Es ese hilo invisible que une al niño curioso con el adulto consciente. Es la silla de madera astillada donde se sientan las ilusiones de quien quiere cambiar su destino. Y es también el eco del maestro que, a pesar de todo, sigue llegando puntual, con su maletín gastado y su voz de futuro. En los corredores de las escuelas públicas no se escucha solo el bullicio infantil. También resuena la esperanza de generaciones que, sin saberlo, están disputándole terreno a la resignación. Cada pizarra escrita, cada orientación oportuna, cada conversación entre docente y estudiante es un acto de resistencia contra el olvido y la exclusión. Y por eso, quien dirige, orienta y piensa la gestión educativa, no está llenando formatos: está modelando país. Este libro, ‘Hacia una Educación Pública de Calidad’, no se contenta con describir lo que falta. Va más allá. Propone caminos. Si las viéramos como centros de vida, como espacios para reconciliarnos con nosotros mismos. Si entendiéramos que la educación pública no es una donación del Estado, sino el mayor gesto de justicia social que una nación puede darse. Por eso, este libro es también un homenaje. A los que siembran donde casi nada germina. A los que gestionan con compromiso, aunque falten medios. A los que creen que sí es posible una educación que forme seres humanos completos: pensantes, sensibles, críticos y solidarios. It is the invisible thread that connects the curious child to the conscious adult. It is the worn wooden chair upon which the dreams of those who seek to change their destiny are seated. And it is also the echo of the teacher who, despite everything, continues to arrive on time, carrying a weathered briefcase and a voice filled with hope for the future. In the hallways of public schools, one does not hear only the noise of children. There also resonates the hope of generations who, without realizing it, are challenging resignation itself. Every written lesson on the board, every timely piece of guidance, every conversation between teacher and student is an act of resistance against oblivion and exclusion. Therefore, those who lead, guide, and shape educational management are not merely filling out forms: they are shaping a nation. This book, *Towards Quality Public Education*, does not settle for describing what is lacking. It goes beyond that. It proposes pathways forward. It weaves together proposals that emerge from the classroom but extend into the community. It demonstrates that managing a school is not merely about administering resources, but about understanding contexts, interpreting territories, and caring for people. It teaches us that speaking about quality is not about repeating official discourse, but about ensuring that every child has the right to an education that enables them to live better and with dignity. What is gathered within these pages is the result of many voices: that of the teacher who innovates with the resources available; that of the student who refuses to give up; that of the the school leader who thinks beyond schedules and routines; that of the researcher who is not satisfied with diagnosis alone; and that of the mother who questions, demands, and supports. These are voices that seek not recognition, but transformation. Sometimes I ask myself—said a wise character from my stories—what would become of this country if we believed more in our schools. If we saw them as centers of life, as spaces where we might reconcile with ourselves. If we understood that public education is not a gift from the State, but rather the greatest act of social justice that a nation can bestow upon itself. For this reason, this book is also a tribute: to those who sow where almost nothing grows; to those who lead and manage with commitment despite limited resources; and to those who believe that an education capable of forming complete human beings—thoughtful, sensitive, critical, and compassionate—is indeed possible.
